What it is
ModelMap is a field guide, not another benchmark table. The frontier model landscape changes weekly, and the question is rarely which model is best in the abstract, it is which model fits this job.
The Idea
Organize models by family with a categorical color system, one hue per class, so the visual language itself carries the structure. Capability, cost, and speed read at a glance instead of buried in a spreadsheet.
Why Build It
Routing work across a dozen models, local and hosted, free-tier and paid, is a daily decision. ModelMap turns that decision from re-research into recognition.
The Design Bet
A tool whose whole identity rests on its color system has to let that system dominate, not hide behind a dark default. The map looks like a field guide on purpose.
